2026 Taoyuan Land Art Festival Event｜Yu-Chen Wang’s Flowing Shoreline: Ecological Tour × Artist Talk

Join artist Yu-Chen Wang at Flowing Shoreline, a site-specific installation created at Xucuogang Wetlands that functions as both a mobile museum and a field station. This event offers the public an opportunity to hear directly from the artist about her creative vision and how she responds to the evolving relationships between tides, wind, sunlight, landscape, and diverse forms of life through field research, ecological observation, and public engagement.

Flowing Shoreline continues Yu-Chen Wang’s ongoing research into wetlandscapes, focusing on the counterpoint between the peatlands of England and the mangrove forests of Taiwan. Through archival research, fieldwork, and cross-disciplinary exchange, it explores the interplay between the ‘hyper-local’ and the ‘global’ within the context of climate change, shifting away from anthropocentric perspectives towards the interconnected coexistence of all living things.

The ecological tour will be led by Fan Chuo-chao, Chairperson of the Wild Bird Society of Taoyuan, who will introduce the past and present of Xucuogang Wetlands and its ecological significance as a Wetland of National Importance.

The panel discussion will feature Eric Chen, Project Director of the 2026 Taoyuan Land Art Festival, Professor Chiou-Rong Sheue of the Department of Life Sciences at National Chung Hsing University, and Associate Professor Kuang-Chi Hung of the Department of Geography at National Taiwan University. Their respective expertise spans architecture and public art, plant taxonomy and ecological restoration, and forest history and natural resource governance. Bringing together perspectives from different fields, they will engage in a cross-disciplinary dialogue on wetland ecology, the environment, and human–land relationships.

Participants are invited to freely create with natural materials. Finished works may be taken home or added to the Mobile Museum’s collection.
