Australian artists Pip & Pop create immersive and colour-saturated artworks from an eclectic array of materials including sugar, glitter, candy, artificial flora, crystals and every day craft materials. Often ephemeral, their meticulously constructed and highly detailed works embrace notions of abundance, utopian dreams and fleeting pleasure. Pip & Pop are fascinated with ideas of paradise and wish-fulfillment described in mythologies, folk tales and ancient maps.
Their work draws parallels between the illusory nature of imagined worlds and the promise and allure of the commercial world, where we are enticed to partake in happy consumption. With playful working methods, the artists construct and transform everyday materials into excessive imaginary landscapes.
Pip & Pop have created artworks in Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Mexico, Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, UK, New Zealand, United Arab Emirates and USA.
Recent works include; Together we light up the sky at Museum of Contemporary Arts Queretaro, Mexico, The colour of a dream I had at Kunstenfestival Watou, Belgium; and Darkness will disappear at Adelaide Biennial of Australian Art. Pip & Pop have collaborated with many companies including Hermès, Romance Was Born, MT Tape, Meow Wolf and Shinsegae Department Store.
