Yang Shih-Yi

Yang Shih-yi is a paper-cutting artist and, above all, a storyteller. He creates heartfelt films and large-scale art installations through a wide range of media. His work has garnered approximately 100 awards worldwide. Notably, his film Father’s Finger was nominated for Best Live Action Short Film at the Golden Horse Awards and was featured in international film festivals in Berlin, Greece, and Tokyo.
Breaking traditional boundaries, Yang’s paper-cutting artistry extends from paper to various innovative materials. He was the commissioned artist for the grand opening of the Apple Store Taipei 101, creating the massive 75-meter paper-cut mural, Have a Seat. He has also collaborated with prestigious international brands, including The Balvenie, Johnson & Johnson, McDonald's, ZEISS, and Range Rover.
His acclaimed large-scale installations include Blessing from the Whale in Anping, Auspicious Clouds of Light at the Beigang Sugar Refinery, and Tree of Life—a project at the Jiangjun Fan-shaped Salt Fields that won the MUSE Design Awards Gold, NY Build Design Awards Silver, and London Design Awards Gold. His book, Threshold-free Happiness, earned him the Rising Star Writer of the Year at the 40th Kingstone Book Awards.
