The Wind of the Gulf
Kamen Tanev
The work is built upon two visual languages: sleek geometric forms that echo the verticality of ship masts, and supple, sail-like curves that arrest a fleeting moment of sea breeze. Upon his first visit to Zhuwei Fishing Port, the artist was struck by the ocean's immense power—far greater than he had anticipated. Centering on the "connection between nature and humanity," he translates the direction of the wind, the tension of the sails, and the rhythm of navigation into the stillness of sculptural form.
The smooth, refined stone surface is designed to be touched. As viewers walk around the piece and run their hands across it, they can sense the energy blowing in from the sea, held within the tension between motion and stillness. The artist hopes that this work, set within Zhuwei Fishing Port, will offer fishermen and visitors alike a silent dialogue with nature—amid the sea breeze and the silhouettes of sails.

Style and Characteristics
Grounded in the principles of geometry and physics, Tanev's compositions often originate from partial cross-sections or fractured structures. By unifying texture through order, he establishes a sculptural language in three-dimensional space that is simultaneously composed and charged with tension.
