Sea Shell
Nando Álvarez
Carved from white marble, the work traces the curves and negative space of a shell, drawing a soft tension from within the solid stone. With no single focal point, viewers walking around the piece may perceive shells, surging waves, the ebb and flow of tides, or even the rhythmic breath of the ocean itself.
The artist adheres to his signature approach—first understanding the character of the material, then allowing form to "grow naturally." Inspired by natural elements, he captures moments of fluidity and transformation within heavy stone. Situated at the Conch Cultural Experience Park, the work resonates with the site's theme of maritime civilization, inviting viewers to engage through touch and movement—and to rediscover the dialogue between humanity and the sea.
