The Message of the Wind
Wang Zhen-Wei
Situated by Yong'an Fishing Harbor, The Message of the Wind responds to the expansive coastal landscape, the seasonal monsoons, and the rhythmic pulse of fishing life. It transforms the invisible local winds into a physical space that can be both observed and traversed. Taking the wind-swept silhouette of the Horsetail Tree (Casuarina) as its inspiration, the sculpture resembles open arms facing the ocean, capturing a dynamic rhythm that shifts between gentle whispers and powerful gusts.
Walking through the piece, visitors can experience the tactile sensation and sound of the wind passing through the gaps—a poetic echo of the "departure, waiting, and return" that defines the emotional memory and daily life of the harbor.
