Coastal Memory Line
Tay Tze Yong, Chai Si Yong, Wee Hii Min
This installation draws inspiration from the dynamic landscape of Taoyuan's western coast, responding to the coastline's constant movement with tides and shifting winds. Its form is derived from the trajectory of drifting sand: the elongated tail symbolizes sand particles flowing along the shore toward the distant horizon; the inward-curling spiral traces the process of sand gradually settling and accumulating as wind speed slows and terrain creates resistance — as if the coastline folds back upon itself through time, leaving behind layered geological memory.
