Colorful Pearl Sea

Hai-Qian Yang、Rong-Can Wong

The work centers on the rich ecological diversity of the “Pearl Coast” in Taoyuan. Through a large-scale weaving installation that converses with the ocean, it transforms precious marine resources into a tangible aesthetic experience. Above the work, countless colorful woven pieces are interlaced into dazzling waves, symbolizing the precious ecological highlights scattered along the coastline like pearls—from ancient thousand-year-old algae reefs, vibrant wetlands, migratory birds, to stone weirs embodying ancestral wisdom. They reveal the breath of life on a coastline that embraces all living things.
As viewers approach the coast, they embrace a vision of vibrant ecology and resilient guardianship. Through the inclusiveness of the ocean, the work conveys Taoyuan’s commitment to environmental conservation, allowing visitors to feel the warmest and purest vitality of life in the “Colorful Pearl Sea.”
